The Pipsies: Volume 1

Chapter 1: The Pipsies find a new home

The mayor talks to the towns folk

It was late autumn and all the leaves on the ground were turning to mush. Percy Pipsie, the mayor of Apple Valley, gathered all his loyal citizens in the town square. “I am afraid I have some rather sad news for you all,” he said, “yesterday when I was out and about doing my mayoral duties, I overheard the human people saying they were going to pull out our garden.”

All the townsfolk looked around at each other, finding it hard to comprehend such news.

“Although this is devastating, and we have spent many happy years in Apple Valley, I think I may have a plan. A few miles down the road I came across a wonderful garden. It is situated on top of a wall. The garden has beautiful flowers and plants growing in it. In the night air the perfume from the flowers smells so sweet” he said looking around at everyone, hoping to ease their worry.

“This will be a perfect new home for us all” said his wife Priscilla Pipsie.

“It certainly will. We will call this new town Pipsville!” Mayor Percy exclaimed.

Clappings townsfolk

All the citizens clapped their little hands and danced with joy. They were all going to be safe and were going to start a new adventure in a new garden. The mayor’s children Peter and Polly were excited and anxious as well. “It will be fun for you,” the mayor told them gently, “it will be a wonderful new experience.”

The next day, all the townsfolk gathered up their belongings and headed off to their new home. After they arrived, Percy showed his family to their new house in Agapanthus Lane. It was right next to a beautiful Pohutukawa tree. Everyone was happy.
